Mount Singai (Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre), Kuching

Mount Singai (often phonetically misspelled as Mount Sinai), a famous mountain and spiritual landmark located in the Bau District, approximately a 40-minute drive from Kuching city centre. It is home to the Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC), a major pilgrimage site that serves as the historical birthplace of Christianity for the local Bidayuh community. The entrance fee is free.

There is a Jesus Christ statue at the carpark area :

The first station is Jesus Christ condemned to death :

The second station is Jesus receives the cross :

The is a total of 14 Stations. The initial leg of the climb features a heavy wooden plank staircase with over 700 steps, punctuated by the 14 Stations of the Cross depicting the Passion of Christ. For Christians who are doing the pilgrimage, a prayer is being recited at each station. The example of 14 Stations of the Cross prayers are as below website link :

Nice scenery at the middle of the hill :

For those who are interested to climb till the summit of the hill, which is standing at 562 meters above sea level, this is the entrance :

It is about 45 minutes to reach the Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC) and another 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the summit. The route to the summit is physically demanding, involving steep, muddy paths and rope climbs. Local hikers frequently use this peak to train for tougher climbs like Mount Kinabalu, Sabah.

Beautiful flowers upon reaching the CMPC :

At the CMPC, there is the last station - Jesus is laid in the sepulchre :

When climbing down the hill, we saw this signboard indicating entrance for waterfall area :

We skipped the waterfall area this time as we were tired already. It was a fruitful and prayerful morning spent on Mount Singai.
