Darul Hana Musical Fountain, Kuching Waterfront

At Kuching Waterfront, approximately 1 kilometre riverside promenade located along the southern bank of the Sarawak River in the heart of Kuching, there is the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building.

In front of the DUN, there is this Darul Hana Musical Fountain which is a popular attraction hosting dynamic water and light shows. It operates nightly at 8.30PM and 9.30PM (extended until 10:30PM on Fridays and Saturdays).

For relevant video for the Darul Hana Musical Fountain performance, see below youtube uploaded by me :

St. Peter Church, Padungan, Kuching

St. Peter’s Church in Padungan, Kuching is a newly completed, stunning Neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church, recognized as an iconic landmark and the largest church architecture project in Kuching.

It takes inspiration from the original St. Joseph's Cathedral gothic structure, built in 1891 and due to structural issues, demolished in 1969. On 28 June 2025, the church was officially opened to public. The new church features an impressive collection of stained glasses that have been handmade and expertly designed by Italians, as well as incorporating the Brooke family crest and the Sarawak emblem in two stained glasses, along with local Dayak motifs showcasing the uniqueness of Sarawak's culture and history.

I love this angel statue holding holy water (stoup fonts) located right near the main entrance doors which is meticulously integrated into the church's Neo-Gothic design, welcoming churchgoers with a serene, protective presence as they enter the main sanctuary :

Located in the exterior compound, this massive, beautiful statue of Mother Mary was installed in July 2025 and serves as a major focal point for peaceful prayer :

It was consecrated on the feast of Sts Peter and Paul on the following day at 29 June with presence of over 30 priests, 6,000 congregation and Archbishop Simon Poh - Archbishop of Archdiocese of Kuching, Archbishop Julian Leow Beng Kim - Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur, Cardinal Sebastian Francis - Cardinal of the Diocese of Penang, Bishop Bernard Paul - Bishop of Malacca-Johore Diocese, Archbishop Emeritus John Ha and Archbishop Emeritus Peter Chung.

Mount Singai (Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre), Kuching

Mount Singai (often phonetically misspelled as Mount Sinai), a famous mountain and spiritual landmark located in the Bau District, approximately a 40-minute drive from Kuching city centre. It is home to the Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC), a major pilgrimage site that serves as the historical birthplace of Christianity for the local Bidayuh community. The entrance fee is free.

There is a Jesus Christ statue at the carpark area :

There is a rest place with all the photos of previous and existing priests on the wall :

The nice scenery on the way up :

The first station is Jesus Christ condemned to death :

The second station is Jesus receives the cross :

The is a total of 14 Stations. The initial leg of the climb features a heavy wooden plank staircase with over 700 steps, punctuated by the 14 Stations of the Cross depicting the Passion of Christ. For Christians who are doing the pilgrimage, a prayer is being recited at each station. The example of 14 Stations of the Cross prayers are as below website link :

The steps towards the Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC) :

Nice scenery at the middle of the hill :

For those who are interested to climb till the summit of the hill, which is standing at 562 meters above sea level, this is the entrance :

It is about 45 minutes to reach the Catholic Memorial and Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC) and another 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the summit. The route to the summit is physically demanding, involving steep, muddy paths and rope climbs. Local hikers frequently use this peak to train for tougher climbs like Mount Kinabalu, Sabah.

Beautiful flowers upon reaching the CMPC :

At the CMPC, there is the last station - Jesus is laid in the sepulchre :

When climbing down the hill, we saw this signboard indicating entrance for waterfall area :

We skipped the waterfall area this time as we were tired already. It was a fruitful and prayerful morning spent on Mount Singai.
